Artist Collab/Town Shirt

Excited to announce my artist collaboration with Town Shirt!

Ultralight Appalachian Trail Short Sleeve

Ultralight Appalachian Trail Short Sleeve

Featuring 3 of the most of ionic locations for the Appalachian Trail; Mount Katahdin, Amicalola Falls and McAfee’s Knob. This shirt also features Bluets, Red and Great White Trillium. All commonly found along the Appalachian Trail.

Last year, by complete happenstance, I partnered with Town Shirt to create several designs for their unique and inspiring line of light weight shirts, designed specifically for Thru-Hikers.

What exactly is Thru-Hiking? According to REI, “Essentially, a thru-hike is an end-to-end backpacking trip on a long-distance trail like the A.T. (Appalachian Trail) or the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). More than 2,100 miles long, the A.T. runs from Georgia to Maine, while the PCT, at more than 2,600 miles long, runs from Mexico to Canada.”

All designs in Town Shirt’s collections are based on the flora and fauna found throughout the trails . My first featured design (pictured above) is based on the A.T. or Appalachian Trail. According to Town Shirt, the design features, “…3 of the most of ionic locations for the Appalachian Trail; Mount Katahdin, Amicalola Falls and McAfee’s Knob. This shirt also features Bluets, Red and Great White Trillium. All commonly found along the Appalachian Trail.”

What an inspiring and original company! Only an entirely unique person could create such a distinctive brand and vision…

Meet Dylan.

“Dylan “Pickle” Tonkin, a native of Pennsylvania, thruhiked the Appalachian Trail in 2016 and the Pacific Crest Trail in 2018. It wasn’t just the walking that made thru-hiking memorable for Dylan. It was the people he met along the way and the incredible landscapes that brought the community together.

With the iconic plants that we’ve all come to know and love along the footpaths we call home, Dylan has collaborated with artists and trail angels to create nostalgic Hawaiian-style Town Shirts in true-to-trail prints that connect our community and can even stand up to a thru-hike.

Proceeds from each purchase benefit the PCTA, ATC and other trail associations to help preserve the trails for future generations.”

Since partnering with Town Shirt, I’ve not only learned what Thru-Hiking is, but have also come to appreciate the niche market and dedication Town Shirt possess for its vision. While I don’t see myself ever hiking a 2,000 mile long trail (which from what I hear can also include hitch hiking) I do enjoy short, easy hikes regularly with my 7 and 5 year old.

Needless to say, I’m excited about and grateful for this collaboration and future projects with Town Shirt (we have several on the way!)

Until next time!
