Make it in Design Winter School

As I kick back with a cup of coffee and my trusty iPad, I can't help but chuckle at the whirlwind challenge that was Make it in Design's Winter School. With two design projects under my belt – one bursting with Chintzy florals and the other featuring moths frolicking in a meadow – I'm feeling like quite the pattern Picasso!

Make it in Design's Winter School is a vibrant and immersive online program designed to ignite creativity and hone the skills of aspiring surface pattern designers. (Offered in both Winter and Summer sessions.) Through a series of engaging modules and projects, participants are guided on a journey of exploration, experimentation, and growth in the world of pattern design. With expert guidance from industry professionals, supportive feedback from peers, and a wealth of resources at their fingertips, Winter School offers a unique opportunity for artists to push their boundaries, refine their craft, and connect with a global community of like-minded creatives. Diving into the world of Charming Chintz was like stepping into a garden of whimsy. I mean, who knew that arranging tiny flowers could be so delightfully challenging? It was like playing Tetris with petals – except way more zen and without the stress of impending doom if you don't stack them just right.

Then there was my escapade with moths in a meadow for the Metamorphosis prompt. Let me tell you, trying to capture the grace of a fluttering moth while avoiding an accidental butterfly impersonation is no easy feat. But hey, who doesn't love a challenge that involves googling "moth anatomy" at 5 AM?

Oh, and let's not forget about the color palette – the bane of my existence and the source of countless creative crises. I try to stick with the provided color palette as much as possible (though it is not required.) Both palette proved to be quite difficult for my little brain to wrap around. But hey, every masterpiece has its messy moments, right?

So here's to Winter School – the place where creativity runs wild, quirks are celebrated, and every design decision is made with a healthy dose of whimsy. Can't wait to see what wacky adventures await in my next round!

Until next time-
